What can I expect in the first session? The first therapy session is where we begin to get to know one another and create a shared understanding of what brought you to therapy, what you would like to focus on, and how you would like things to be different. I will follow your lead as to what is important for you to share about yourself, and ask some additional questions to build my understanding of your circumstance. We will also begin to identify goals for therapy and possible pathways towards them. While it is my goal to help you make changes in the shortest amount of time, therapy is not a one-session experience. I aim for you to leave each session with something useful to integrate into your day to day, but it is also common for psychological shifts to be more obvious only after some time.

What can I expect in therapy with you?If we work together, you can expect a safe and non-judgmental space to explore and give language to your inner experience. We will build on your existing strengths and self-knowledge, and identify unhelpful patterns that are keeping you stuck. I will support you in building self-awareness and intentionality by decreasing reactivity and increasing mindful responsiveness.

What modalities do you use in therapy?I have an eclectic approach to treatment and will personalize your therapy based on your presenting symptoms and your preferences. I use interventions informed by CBT, DBT, narrative therapy and ego state therapy, among others, as well as EMDR therapy.
